We are proud to announce that we have renewed our partnership with Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and reducing food waste.
Move For Hunger was launched in 2009 when its founders observed that people who are relocating or moving tend to throw away a lot of perfectly good food–food that could otherwise help a family in need. A network was built among relocation professionals to collect that food and deliver it to community shelters and food banks across North America.
Today, our work with Move For Hunger is one of the centerpieces of our WeCARE initiative. Since the partnership began, through food drives, donations, integrating food collection models into policy language and raising awareness, our colleagues and supplier network partners have helped raise enough food for over 2 million meals. That’s pretty amazing.
Pre-pandemic, 37 million individuals struggled with hunger across the United States, and estimates show that number could increase by 17 million in 2021. There’s a lot more work to be done, and we’re proud to continue to support Move For Hunger to make a difference.
