The AI Impact: New Roles for the Future of Mobility 08.13.2024 | Jennifer Connell

Chatbot concept. open AI, Artificial Intelligence.

AI is stealthily sneaking its way into our everyday business processes like a ninja in the night, becoming a regular player in the business world. From analyzing data and automating boring, repetitive tasks to improving customer service with chatbots and making smarter decisions with predictive analytics…AI is everywhere.

Financial organizations are using it to detect fraud, and supply chain managers are relying on it to forecast demand and optimize routes. It’s like having your own super-smart sidekick for your business adventures!

The mobility industry is certainly not immune to the AI revolution, and, as I explored in the first installment of this blog post, it’s quickly established itself as a formidable tool in enhancing the efficiency, personalization, and overall effectiveness of today’s relocation programs. The challenge, however, lies in ensuring your team members have the right skills to leverage the full capabilities of this tool. We already discussed the specific skills that are driving mobility’s AI revolution, but here are the emerging AI-focused roles primarily directed to data and technology:

Emerging AI-Focused Roles

Role Description
AI Mobility Strategist: The strategist will leverage AI to optimize relocation processes, predict future mobility trends, and improve overall efficiency.
AI Integration Specialist: This role focuses on integrating AI technologies into existing global mobility systems. The specialist will work with IT and mobility teams to ensure seamless implementation and operation of AI-driven solutions.
On the Horizon… New Functions & Disciplines

These roles highlight how AI is leading to entirely new opportunities for professionals in the global mobility sector and related areas that focus on valuable activities requiring creativity, problem-solving, and personal interaction.

Role Description
Global Mobility Data Analyst: With the increasing use of AI and data analytics, there is a growing need for data analysts who can interpret and analyze large volumes of mobility data. These analysts will use AI tools to identify patterns, predict potential issues, and provide insights to improve decision-making.
AI-Based Talent Mobility Advisor: In this role, the advisor aligns employees with the most suitable relocation opportunities using AI-based tools that factor in skills, goals, and career aspirations with those needed by the business. The advisor suggests enhancements to AI tools and algorithms that enhance accuracy in identifying assignments and support to employees throughout the relocation journey.
AI Compliance Specialist: This role focuses on ensuring that AI-driven mobility solutions comply with international regulations and standards. The specialist will monitor AI systems to ensure they adhere to legal and ethical guidelines, particularly in areas such as immigration, tax, and cultural adaptation.
Crisis Management Specialist: AI can play a crucial role in crisis management by predicting potential risks and providing real-time solutions. This specialist will use AI tools to develop and implement strategies for managing crises, such as natural disasters or geopolitical conflicts, to ensure the safety and well-being of employees.
Meeting the Demand

But will companies meet the demand? Leaders are concerned about employees’ lack of technical skills for using generative AI tools at work. Currently, many are assessing their workforce’s AI skills and only 47% of respondents in one report say their company is adequately educating employees on generative AI. Most advancements so far have improved efficiency and productivity. More training is needed to fully understand how this technology could transform the workplace.

While AI offers numerous benefits, it also presents challenges such as ensuring data privacy, maintaining ethical standards, and complying with evolving AI regulations. Mobility managers must balance these considerations to fully leverage AI’s potential

Overall, AI is set to transform the relocation industry by making processes more efficient, personalized, and cost-effective. As AI technology continues to evolve, its role in global mobility programs will likely expand, offering even greater benefits and opportunities for innovation.
